White Pass Express

White Pass Express

On the train heading up the track.

All aboard the train to the whitePass!! Climb the mountains and traverse the same paths that the miners took to get to the rich gold mines. While traveling through this area, come across many bridges, a creek, rent-able bus to sleep in just off the path, and learn about the history of this railroad. Once you have climbed up the hillside of the mountain, you find yourself in an other-worldly Yukon tundra. Here, the plant live have an extremely short amount of time to catch the sun rays. Among the deep crevices of the ancient glacier cuts, zip past sharply cut rocks, lichen covered hills, and further up a beautiful lake.

A harsh environment for any plants, but they still grow!

Stop to officially enter Canada, and once all is cleared continue on.
Shortly after this, once again stop to enjoy a stew lunch, and be able to explore the area. Those who were in search for gold when the gold rush was going on, rested at this location. This was where the end of the Chilkoot trail is located, and where Bennett Lake starts. Here they had to finalize everything, make their own ship to sail the lake, and continue their journey on the other side.

Getting lunch at the lakeside with a beautiful view.

Once some time had been spent exploring, climb aboard the train once more and continue your journey to the town of Carcross, Yukon. Get some time exploring the town, try some locally made ice cream, and even get a new stamp on the passport. The stores that are open are really fun to explore, and some of the local legends are amazing to hear.
