Stradun

Looking down the polished street toward the bell tower.

Stradun is the main road that runs through the city. It is a limestone pedestrian street that has been polished to a beautiful high glaze by the feet that have walked its length over the last 7 centuries. The polished stone can be slippery when wet. So, take care if it rains! The Stradun makes easy to know where you are in the old town. When exploring the side roads, it is easy to orient yourself when you come across its busy intersections.

Along Stradun, there are many shops that entice visitors to enter. These shops range from typical souvenir shops with t-shirts and shot glasses to jewelry and the craft stores that sell masterful masks of different sizes.

However, Stradun isn’t full of only shops. This main area has cafes where you can buy food, drinks, sit outside while enjoying some people watching, and visit the large Luza Square and bell tower. An early morning market opens in a different plaza, but if it’s missed, a smaller market opens near the bell tower. It offers handmade treats and goodies for anyone.

The shops are built into the buildings.
