One of the many large sponges around the island.

Cozumel is renowned for a single major sport; scuba diving. Many divers come year after year to soak in the rich colors, sea life, drift currents, warm water, and a company of fellow divers. The reefs hold caves, swim-throughs, wrecks, gardens, and walls. There is so much here to experience, and so much life to view that it is near impossible to avoid a plunge into the warm waters.

A beautiful spotted drumfish allowed me to take a quick photo.

While diving, I saw a crab, seahorse, lobsters, sea turtles, a huge variety of colorful fish including the Spotted Drumfish, Jackknife Drum, Angel Fish, Parrot fish, and SO many more! The water is full of colorful coral, sponges, and sea fans. With perfect visibility, the warm water (near 80°F.) enabled everyone to dive comfortably and enjoy the spectacular sights. It is no wonder that this a FAVORITE of divers from around the world and why they return again and again.

I too will return! I look forward to further experiencing the beautiful waters and wide variety of sea life of Cozumel. The area has an incredible charm that draws exploring spirits.
