Bargello

Bargello

This small sign guides you to the entry.

This MUCH lesser visited museum is home to hundreds of statues and artifacts from Donatello, Michelangelo, Gianbologna, Ghiberti, Brunelleschi, and more. This once prison has been transformed into a beautiful display covering three different floors (ground, first, and second).

This museum is home to the coveted Donatello’s David in bronze and still, has some of the gilded gold around his locks of hair. It also contains ivory pieces, jewelry, and its sacristy in the back corner. Take some time to wander from each level of the building to fully capture each piece of artwork.

Because this museum isn’t as well known, there isn’t a huge line outside the door much like the Uffizi or Galleria della Accademia. As such, reservations are not required. Tour groups may also be arranged to gain a better understanding of the museum, or you can wander and explore on you own.

Entry into this museum will cost 7 Euro when there are additional exhibits, 4 Euro otherwise. There is no indication if pictures are allowed within the museum or not.
