Murano

Murano

To get to Murano, a water taxi is required from the main island of Venice. The island of Murano can be visited and is specifically the home of the famous Murano Glass. Here, receive a personal tour of how this tradition is still kept.

See the glass being heated, formed, and cooled. Learn that they use different minerals to create the colored effects in glass. Some include cobalt for blue, copper for green, sulfur for yellow, and manganese for purple. After, walk around to see some of the masterful pieces that have been created by each master. Each room displays a different person’s work, and each of their personalities shines. It’s amazing to see all of these pieces and to know that it has taken many many long years of training to be able to create such magnificent glass pieces.

If you see anything that you just cannot live without, place your order. Don’t worry about trying to get these precious objects home; they will wrap them safely and ship them to you. After the tour is over, walk into a room with marvelous pieces, but are more budget wise too. Even though these pieces may not be as large as the other glass pieces previously seen, the time it takes to create them is still incredible.
